Educational Events Discussed During the meeting we had a great discussion about future educational events such as seminars, cruises and retreats. Two task forces were set up to make tentative plans for a retreat in 2013 and a full seminar/cruise in 2014. Though no definite decisions were made, there was an opportunity to talk about various possibilities for sharing profits from educational events among chapters working on the seminar and the region. During this discussion it was mentioned that the region needs about $7,000 annually to balance the budget, thus fundraising in the form of retreat/cruise/seminar.
Next meeting...Road Trip?
The next region meeting is set for April 13-15, 2012 at the Orlando Hilton in Altamonte Springs; cost is $112 per night. This is near enough for our chapter members to attend, if only for a day. Road trip anyone? There is generally a luncheon at the hotel on Saturday (cost is $22) which presents a chance to meet and greet other Sun Region reps and chapter presidents. They also have lovely hand-made favors such as my little penguin pincushion. Saturday evening there is generally camaraderie and a small stitching project such as the little fall flower stitched at our recent Saturday evening session. I hope some of you will join us next April.
More details about the Stitcher's Celebration set for May 18-20, 2012 in Celebration, Florida: A portion of the fundraising revenue will be donated to Ronald McDonald House and it is hoped that chapters will donate as well.
